She brought both cultures together and brought Tejano music to the forefront. Her sudden passing which shattered her rising image. That's what happens to many stars who die far too young. Over the years, the fans became motivated to do their best in order to ensure that her achievements would not be forgotten. The death of Selena triggered an emotional response within the Latino society that could be likened in a way to Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. She was an incredibly well-known singer for Latinos across North America. But her music touched both the young and the old. Selena might have been described by some as a Latina Madonna, but she is still a great character model. Selena's off-stage family values and her participation in AIDS awareness efforts are exemplary.
